RAB Design experienced considerable business growth and needed a more reliable and robust email platform that could increase productivity and collaboration while maintaining a high level of security and availability.
RAB Design was using an on-premise Exchange server for two domains. In an effort to improve server reliability and security, we first migrated the first domain to Microsoft 365, followed by the second domain. Once the migrations were completed, Falkon decommissioned the on-premise server, enhancing scalability and security for the company.
The Falkon team managed the email server migration by first communicating the upcoming changes to all users, ensuring they felt comfortable and would receive a smooth transition. We then prepared the local Exchange server for migration, created accounts in Microsoft 365, and assigned the necessary licenses.
After connecting the local server to Microsoft 365, we synced the local Active Directory to the cloud. We efficiently migrated mailboxes, including emails, contacts, and calendars, and configured the domain and DNS settings to route emails through Microsoft 365. Once the migration was complete, we verified mail flow after the DNS changes, confirmed everything was successful, and reconnected users to their new Office 365 mailboxes.
At the end, after both domains were fully migrated, we decommissioned the local Exchange server, wrapping up the process with improved scalability and security.
Falkon successfully managed the email migration project, delivering big wins for the client. By moving their emails to Microsoft 365 and integrating tools like Word, Excel, and Teams, we gave them a unified platform that made collaboration smoother and easier, especially through Teams.
Now, RAB Design can access their emails and documents from anywhere, and they have the flexibility to scale their mailboxes without worrying about hardware limitations. On top of that, they’re enjoying better reliability with almost zero downtime and enhanced security, thanks to multi-factor authentication. Overall, Falkon’s seamless migration process made their system more efficient, secure, and ready for growth.
